Aug 6 2024 Bond Proposal Election - Updated from 2023!

No Tax Rate IncreaseThe Central Montcalm Public School community will vote on a bond proposal on the August 6, 2024, election ballot. If approved by voters, this bond proposal would provide $33,200,000 for district-wide improvements with no tax rate increase to property owners over the current rate.

In alignment with community feedback from the 2023 proposal, the 2024 proposal aims to:

  • Update Aging Buildings and Sites
  • Enhance Educational Learning Environments

We listened. We revised.

What changed from the 2023 proposal?

After the 2023 proposal was not approved by voters, the district conducted a community survey to gather feedback. We adjusted the proposal:

  1. Reducing the overall amount of bond by $13.8 million
  2. Focusing on community priorities identified in a post-election survey
  3. Removing projects from the proposal such as the synthetic turf field and the early childhood classroom addition from the bond proposal and instead using grant funding to enhance early childhood learning spaces
  4. Building the auditorium sooner

What's in the 2024 proposal?

Our top district facility priorities have remained in the 2024 proposal:

ENHANCING EDUCATIONAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

  • Building an auditorium for district and community use
  • Renovating the high school art room
  • Improvements to the outdoor athletic facilities: concessions, public restrooms, team rooms, and storage facilities
  • Replacing educational technology

UPDATING AGING BUILDINGS

  • Upgrading safety & security features
  • Improving HVAC, adding cooling
  • Upgrading select classroom furniture
  • Replacing select flooring
  • Parking lot improvements at the middle-high school
